Year one of the vision is great but it is challenging at the
same time. Great because you get to see what God has told you actually
happening and you feel a sense of joy knowing that what you felt, heard, and saw
is actually taking place. In year one you can’t
help but to have a renewed
strength and energy. I have moments where I can leap over tall buildings and do
the impossible without breaking a sweat. I don’t know why it happens, but it super
strength to come along with taking the first steps towards a life that was planned,
prepared tailored made just for you.
Year one is awesome, however, it is also a very tough and trying
time. Along with the joy of starting your beginning, you also quickly realize
it is just the beginning of your journey and just like the best cake I have
ever tasted how it ended up looks and tastes nothing like how it began. Though
I am certain the end result will be incredible, along the way you will have
some distasteful moments, moments of unsteadiness, questions of outcome and A
LOT of praying you didn't make a mistake. Jon Acuff calls this the editing
phase and boy he was not lying. During the first year of the vision, you not
only learn what needs to be added to your life like prayer time, meditation,
football games, nights out on the town with the people you love and children. I
know children seem random, but Children are great reminders of what true trust and
unconditional love looks like. And who can’t use more examples of that. Check
out Jess’s blog JessInTime about her experiences with our nieces and nephews.
During the first year you also learn what needs to be
removed from your life like negative people, too much social media, false
perceptions of where you are in your growth and too many cheerleaders. Yes too
many cheerleaders! I didn't believe it but it is possible to have too many of
those. I mean let’s face it their job is to make you feel good no matter what
is happening and though I would love to feel good all the time it is not
reality. If your not careful you may end up believing the hype more than the
truth that you need to get to work. Don’t believe me just ask a Houston Texan Cheerleader J. Go get yourself a few
really strong cheerleaders and you will be just fine.
Yes it is certain that year one is a time of growing and stretching;
joys and celebrations; good pizza and late nights with a big box of tissue but
through it all it is for sure the most memorable time I have ever had.
