How to be a Blessed Billionaire

Recently, Jess and I have started watching a show called Billionaire and I must admit

that it is one of the great shows about the importance of discipline and honoring family values. Now for those of you who are also watching the show, I know you may be saying to yourself “Keith has lost his mind.” And that may be true. Nevertheless, let us go beyond the surface of the show and see if you observe the same thing. The two main characters are some of the greediest, power driven, revenge seeking individuals we have seen on cable television since… well since the last cable network show we have seen. It is also true that the show seems to promote many negative and dark stereotypes often portrayed of persons who pursue wealth at all cost. But once you go beyond the obvious over exaggerated lifestyle, back stabbing, office tapping, law breaking antics of the show you will find this truth. Discipline and family values are tantamount in maintaining a balanced and happy life. In the beginning of the show, both main characters meditated daily, spoke to wise counsel, ate mostly healthy food, spent a considerable amount of time with family, and honored the intimacy and sanctity of their marriage. As the show went on, however, they began to move away from those values; drinking excessively, blurring the boundaries of their marriage, replacing meditation to pursue more money and in the end it seems they lost everything (family, integrity, business, peace of mind) they worked so hard for. Today, I challenge us to get back on track and instead of pursuing the things that society says we should, let’s pursue the things that will bring us balance and peace of mind.
